When connecting MYOB AccountRight versions 2014-2016 files to the Common Ledger MYOB desktop connector, you may be prompted with the below error:

Can't sync to Common Ledger due to failure to communicate with MYOB AccountRight, please make sure MYOB Add-On is running

This error is triggered when the MYOB Add-On connector is not running or is absent.

To make sure the MYOB add-on connector is running:

  1. Type 'MYOB Add-On connector' into the search function in your start menu.

  2. Double click it to launch it.

  3. Try to add MYOB file again.

The MYOB Add-On connector is required for the desktop connector to be able to connect to your MYOB v2014-2016 file(s). The add-on is MYOB software and should be running by default in your system tray if you use any version of MYOB AccountRight from 2014 forward, as it is installed automatically with MYOB AccountRight.

If it is not in your system tray, locate and launch the add-on. If it is not installed on your system, you can find information about how to install and troubleshoot it here.

Note

If the MYOB Add-On connector is still not running in your system tray, it is likely that MYOB AccountRight is not installed on your PC. This may indicate that it is installed on a server instead, accessible through your PC. If your MYOB is installed on a server and the Common Ledger desktop connector is located on your desktop, the required add-on will not be running on your desktop, but on the server where MYOB is located.

In this scenario, you will need to install the Common Ledger desktop connector on your server.

If the MYOB Add-On connector is running in your system tray with the status "error", please contact Common Ledger Support at support@commonledger.com.
