When you import data into Sage HandiLedger, the software doesn't know which data fields are contained in the import file, and the order in which the fields are listed. Because of this, you will need to create a mapping scheme in order to successfully import the file.

  1. Select the entity that you want to import the transaction details of

  2. Press F3, or from the View menu, click Entity Details

  3. On the “Entities” window, highlight the required entity then click Select

  4. From the Tools menu, hover over Import Data, and then click General

  5. The ‘Import Entries’ window will open. The rows are blank because the data has not yet been imported

  6. Click Import

  7. The “Import ASCII Data” window will open. This allows you to view the information contained in the file, and to map it to the correct fields

  8. Enter the number from the table below against the appropriate field

    Account -> 3
    Date -> 2
    Description -> 6
    Signed Amount -> 4
    Transaction -> 1
    Type -> 5

    9. Enter Common Ledger as the mapping name and click Store, then Ok

    10. The mapping has now been saved. You can now import the data file
